Katlatrack was estabilished in the spring of 2009 with the goal of providing diverse forms of recreation in the south of Iceland. The founder of Katlatrack is born and bred in Mýrdalur in the county of Vestur-Skaftafellssýsla. He has a great deal of knowledge of the area and its history. He also has considerable experience of mountaineering, both on foot and in all terrain vechicles both in winter and summer The main emphasis of Katlatrack‘s activies revolve around the glacier Mýrdalsjökull and Katla, Icelands most powerful volcano which sleeps under its thick blanket of ice, and the majestic nature which surrounds that area. Katlatrack makes every effort to adapt their trips to your needs so that you will have the best possible experience.  

At Brú we offer all kinds of tour that are suitable for both individuals and families Buggy tours in Þórsmörk are a unique way to enjoy Icelandic nature and include several waterfalls and gravel road driving. A stunning natural playground for the next few hours where you test your buggy skills is surrounded by the incredible scenery that only Iceland can offer. These two-seaters, 4×4 buggies are fully automatic, fully inspected, and road-legal. They are also full of great safety and design features, such as a roll cage, seat belts, and double A-arm front suspension. All of this makes for a car that is as safe and comfortable as a car. Snowmobiling on Eyjafjallajökull, While the south is certainly magnificent “from below”, there is nothing better than experiencing it “from above”! Snowmobile tours on the top of Eyjafjallajökull are an extraordinary experience and an adventure not to be missed! Our adventure begins when we all meet at our Brú base camp near the legendary Eyjafjallajökull. There we will provide you with all the equipment you need and give you a short safety briefing. Then it is time to take a specially designed super jeep to the starting point of the snowmobile tour. In perfect conditions, the view is magnificent, over the Vestmannaeyjar Islands, the entire south coast all the way to Ingólfsfjall, and even a large part of the highlands! BLACK BEACH TOURS offers perfect tours in South Iceland where the black volcanic beach meets the blue Atlantic Ocean. Mountaineers of Iceland is the oldest snowmobile tour operator in the country, founded by Herbert Hauksson in 1996, with over one hundred snowmobiles in operation and capacity to welcome large or small groups on Langjökull glacier.  Langjökull glacier is Europe’s 2nd largest glacier and is our main area of operation. The glacier is home to our base camps, both on the glacier’s east and west sides.  We also welcome independent travelers to us with a variety of snowmobile tours operating from Reykjavík, Gullfoss and Húsafell. Southcoast Adventure is located in Hvolsvöllur and offers tours of the South Coast and the highlands as well as other special tours. Most of the guides live in Hvolsvöllur and are very knowledgeable about the area, as most of them have grown up in the area and worked in this sector for many years. Specially equipped, modified jeeps are used for most tours and there is equipment to deal with most of what nature has to offer, both in winter and summer. We also offer snowmobile tours on Eyjafjallajökull where the view is magnificent, a buggy tour into Þórsmörk you can choose from 1 hour up to 5 hours and not to forget the popular Kalta Ice Caves. Volcano tour Come and enjoy with us in a 1 hour ATV tour around the Volcano in Vestmannaeyjar and experience the unique view the island and its surroundings have to offer During the trip, we will go to Prestvik beach where fishing ship Pelagus stranded, we will also drive around and view the scene where Guðlaugur Friðþórsson came to land after 5-6 km of swimming in the dark and cold sea after Hellisey VE 503 sank. We will drive around the lava and into the middle of the volcano Eldfell and along the coast, where the view is breathtaking. This trip is recommended for all the family who will enjoy driving around historical sites of Vestmannaeyjar on a fun riding ATV. The ATV´s are automatic and easy to drive so no specific experience is needed.  All ATV´s are 2 person where driver needs to have a driving licence, passengers need to be 6 years or older. This is a guided trip where each person will be provided waterproof jacket and pants,gloves and helmet installed with an communication gadget to listen to tour guide stories when we stop on special historical locations.
