Culinary Treasures of Katla Geopark and Vestmannaeyjar
Katla UNESCO Global Geopark is characterized by unique natural features, volcanic activity mixed with glacial environments, waterfalls, diverse rock formations, and geological monuments of global importance. Three municipalities form the ground, Rangárþing Eystra, Mýrdalshreppur, and Skaftárhreppur. They see the area as a whole so that visitors can experience the area's culture, history, geology, and community.
The Westman Islands are a group of islands off the south coast of Iceland. They consist of 15 islands and 30 cliffs and skerries that make up the archipelago. Westman Islands are also characterized by a spectacular history of volcanic eruptions and rich birdlife. Tourism has increased significantly in recent years, which has resulted in increased accommodation and better and more diverse restaurants that offer local food.
In Katla Geopark and Westman Islands, there is a tradition for agriculture of various kinds, for example, grain cultivation, growing root vegetables, and fishing. The main characteristics of the area are birds and collecting eggs.
