We are a local family company that has been running trips in southeast Iceland since 1991. Our Summer Special is the popular Ingólfshöfði Puffin Tour. This adventurous journey starts on a tractor drawn hay cart, traveling 6 km across the black sands flats of the southeast coast. Our destination is the isolated headland and nature reserve, Ingólfshöfði, a home of thousands nesting seabirds, including puffins and the great skuas. The historical cape is named after the first settler of Iceland Ingólfur Arnarson, who spent his first winter in Iceland at the cape in 874 AD. Southcoast Adventure is located in Hvolsvöllur and offers tours of the South Coast and the highlands as well as other special tours. Most of the guides live in Hvolsvöllur and are very knowledgeable about the area, as most of them have grown up in the area and worked in this sector for many years. Specially equipped, modified jeeps are used for most tours and there is equipment to deal with most of what nature has to offer, both in winter and summer. At Brú we offer all kinds of tour that are suitable for both individuals and families Buggy tours in Þórsmörk are a unique way to enjoy Icelandic nature and include several waterfalls and gravel road driving. A stunning natural playground for the next few hours where you test your buggy skills is surrounded by the incredible scenery that only Iceland can offer. These two-seaters, 4×4 buggies are fully automatic, fully inspected, and road-legal. They are also full of great safety and design features, such as a roll cage, seat belts, and double A-arm front suspension. All of this makes for a car that is as safe and comfortable as a car. Snowmobiling on Eyjafjallajökull, While the south is certainly magnificent “from below”, there is nothing better than experiencing it “from above”! Snowmobile tours on the top of Eyjafjallajökull are an extraordinary experience and an adventure not to be missed! Our adventure begins when we all meet at our Brú base camp near the legendary Eyjafjallajökull. There we will provide you with all the equipment you need and give you a short safety briefing. Then it is time to take a specially designed super jeep to the starting point of the snowmobile tour. Arnanes Country Hotel is a family-run company, established in May 1993 in our own home, located in Nesjahverfi, 1,5 km from Arnanes.In August 1993 we bought a part of the farm Arnanes (30 ha of land and 2 houses) and early spring 1994 we moved our home to Arnanes. Our former home then became a guesthouse and still it is a part of our hotel with 5 rooms, a sitting room and living rooms, complimentary coffee and tea,TV and free internet access just like in all of our rooms. 1995 we renowated our house in Arnanes, starting with 4 rooms w. shared facilities on first floor with panoramic view to glaciers and mountains in Vatnajökull National Park. In May 1996 we started our riding tours from Arnanes , 16 years later we are still going strong. The first 12 years I managed the riding tours myself but for the last 4 years my youngest son (23 years old) has been taking care of it. In June 1997 we opened our restaurant in Arnanes with seats for 40 people.At the same time we built 3 bungalows here in Arnanes, each with 2 rooms with bath. Since then we have not built any new houses but instead we have tried to keep everything in good shape. From the start we have wanted our guests to get the feeling of a home away from home here in Arnanes.
