Blue Hotel Fagrilundur is a new 40-room hotel in Reykholt in Biskupstungur.
All rooms have a private bathroom with a shower and a refrigerator with a freezer in each room so our guests can cool their own beverages and other groceries. There is no traditional bar in the hotel, although we will have wine and beer in a minimal selection to begin with. We also have hot tubs for relaxing after your busy day experiencing our wonderful country. That facility will be open from 15-21: 30. To begin with, we will only have breakfast (continental) at the hotel itself as we are in good partnership with restaurants on both sides of us, which are both within a (very short) walking distance.
Mika’s restaurant is just across the street and is open daily for dinner. We recommend that our guests book a table well in advance. This can be done on their website or by phone 486 1110. See www.mika.is.
Friðheimar and Vínstofa Friðheima - Winebar & Bistro is also almost next door to us, an enjoyable restaurant inside the greenhouse, and you can enjoy lunch there from 12-4 PM every day. Next to Mika is a mini market and gas station, Bjarnabúð, where you can find an excellent selection of products for such a small shop, and there you can also get hot dogs, sandwiches, ice cream, and petrol, to name a few.
The hotel is based on a so-called “self-check-in” system with smart locks where our guests receive a code to access the front door and room when booking. The door to each room has a doorknob with a number lock that is electronically connected to the booking system, and the code is valid during your stay. It should be both simple and convenient to stay with us. No keys, no cards. Just remember the numbers or look at them on the phone and stamp them on the doorknob. We will welcome you in person until 10 PM each night if you prefer a more traditional check-in. Also, a short distance from our hotel is the Aratunga community center, and there you find a gym, swimming pool, and hot tubs. Geysir, Laugarvatn, Flúðir, Gullfoss, Þingvellir, and other suitable places are nearby. In fact, we are located in the center of the Golden Circle.
