Brunnhóll is a guesthouse and restaurant enjoying unparallelled views to Vatnajökull National Park. It is only 6 km from the edge of Fláajökull one of the outlets of Vatnajökull glacier, the biggest glacier in Europe. Brunnhóll is at highway no. 1, about 50 km east from Jökulsárlón and the nearest village Höfn in Hornafjörður is 30 km to the east.
Brunnhóll is a family-friendly business which prides itself on personal service. The guesthouse has accommodation for up to 80 persons, in single, double/twin, triple and family rooms, that all come with their own bathroom. Good access for the disabled people. Children's play corner both indoors and outdoors.
Brunnhóll offer breakfast, dinner and some refreshment from a small menu. We and dinner. Whenever possible we use products from the farm itself or from the immediate neighbourhood. There is a constant supply of bread baked in our own kitchen and home-made pancakes and rhubarb jam are a fixed feature of our breakfast board. The famous farm made icecream, JÖKLAÍS (glacier Ice), is sold whole day. It is produced on the farm.
The dining room is divided into two and seats around 60+, and offers a wide and spectacular view over the surrounding countryside. It opens out onto a sheltered veranda, making it possible to sit outside and enjoy the peace and magnificence of the Icelandic landscape while eating your meals.
The next generation of the family lives at the neighbouring farm of Árbær. The whole family (three generations) helps with the operation of the guest house, and we strive to give visitors an insight into daily life in the countryside as well as learning about local conditions. Every year, several individuals from other nations come to work at the hostel and become like part of the family, bringing panorama and culture into the the locals daily life.
Open from February 1st - October 31st and around Christmas
