New Visitor Center for Vatnajökull National Park
The new Visitor Center for Vatnajökull National Park, called Skaftárstofa, was officially opened on February 24th. This center is located in a new building on Route 1, just outside Kirkjubæjarklaustur. It will serve as an information center not only for the national park but also for the municipality of Skaftárhreppur.
Visitors have the opportunity to view the "Springtrip" exhibition, which was created for the 70th anniversary of the Iceland Glaciology Society. A permanent exhibition is also being set up, which is scheduled to be completed by the end of the year.
Visit South congratulates Vatnajökull National Park on the new and impressive Visitor Center. We encourage travelers to stop by and learn more about this beautiful national park. You can find more information about the Visitor Center here.
